About Mr. Ruth
I was born in Davenport but spent the majority of my life growing up in Ely, Iowa. I graduated from THE University of Iowa in 2010 with a degree in Elementary Education. After graduation, my wife and I took teaching positions and moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. I spent two years teaching at Cather Elementary School in Omaha. In 2012, we decided we wanted to move closer to our family and friends and that is when we took jobs in Pleasant Valley. My wife, Meghan, currently teaches 4th grade at Pleasant View Elementary.
Meghan and I enjoy spending our time outside of teaching with our beautiful daughter, Charlotte. Charlotte was born in May of 2013 and has been keeping us quite busy ever since. We also have a dog named Babe who is named after my wife's favorite baseball team, the Yankees. However, I am a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan!
In addition to teaching 6th grade, I am the assistant varsity baseball coach at Pleasant Valley High School. I also spend the fall and early winter coaching football and girls basketball at the Junior High School. When I am not coaching, I also enjoy watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, golfing, and playing basketball.
